There are only so many photographs that make it in to the newspaper. Dubya dubya dubya has been a saving grace for we photogs who shoot too many photos and have $0 budget to hang them in some coffee shop.

Coffee and I don’t get along anyway.

Still, the motivation to make photos even in my sleep, is a strong one. I have dreams from time to time that I’m shooting a spot news assignment (usually some kind of tornado outbreak) and forget to put film in my camera and open the camera back only to find there is film. Same dream every time.

Never mind I’ve only shot one roll of film in the last ten years or so.

Back on track, I’ve worked some nights recently and have had a good time capturing the late afternoon light. To me, summer and fall are the best time of year to shoot. The light is good for three or four hours in the afternoon giving one plenty of time to make decent pictures.

Did I mention that I like silhouette’s too?

Follow the light.

It will guide you.
