Frame the Day 12.16.10

My wife says it’s spiritual light.
My son thinks it’s a big eyeball with eyelashes.
Director of PD Photography Chad Surmick thinks it looks like The Eye of Sauron on the tower of Barad-Dûr in Lord of the Rings.
Me? Just stupid lucky.
Thomas Mullin of Mill Valley gets a last look at the sun at Bodega Head, Thursday Dec. 16, 2010 as the first in a series of large Pacific storms move inland, bringing with it a promise of heavy precipitation and high winds. Thin high clouds ahead of the front produce a halo containing millions of tiny ice crystals which take on an elongated hexagonal shape, refracting the light. (Kent Porter / Press Democrat) 2010
