Had a shoot today at the Sonoma County Animal Care and Control near the county airport.

Imagine my surprise when Registered Veterinary Technician Jocelyn Schmidt whipped out a dust buster and vacuumed shaved fur from a dog being prepped for spaying. The story being covered is a serious one, but the dustbuster cracked me up. It was just another day for the two animal care workers, obviously.

At Sonoma County Animal Care and Control in Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa Junior College student intern Nadine Phillips, right, assists Registered Veterinary Technician Jocelyn Schmidt as she vacuums up fur as they prepare the animal for spaying, Tuesday Sept. 14, 2010. It reminded me of the Gary Larson Far Side cartoon, where one dog is wagging his tail as he leans out a car window. He’s talking to another dog who is sitting on a lawn. The caption reads, “Ha ha ha, Biff. Guess what? After we go to the drug store and the post office, I’m going to the vet’s to get tutored!”
